Product Description
Soudaseal AP (All Purpose) is a one part, high quality, gun grade, moisture curing, elastomeric waterproofing and sealing SMX® sealant designed for general construction
Soudaseal AP has excellent bond strength to nearly all porous and non-porous substrates without the use of a primer. It is suitable for expansion and connection joints in the building industry, sealing of joints in prefabricated buildings, movement joints in high rise construction, sealing between window and door frames, flexible joints in automotive uses, and surfaces that should be painted with water based paints. It can be used with manual- or pneumatic caulking gun at temperature: -35°F to 140°F and requires cleaning with IPA immediately after use and before curing. Repair with: Soudaseal AP.
- Excellent adhesion and extrudability, even in adverse conditions
- AAMA approved
- high bond strength on nearly all surfaces
- high performance mechanical properties
- flexible elastic rubber - movement accommodation up to +/-35%
- no bubble formation within sealant even in high temperature and humidity conditions
- very easy to tool and finish
- color stable and UV resistant
- ecological advantages - free of isocyanates, solvents, halogens and acids
- minimal health and safety considerations
- can be painted with water based paints and many other systems (to be tested)
- excellent weather resistance in all climates
- primerless adhesion on many different substrates (except where water pressure may occur) almost odorless
- Minimum width: 1/4”
- Maximum width: 1 3/16”
- Minimum Depth: 1/5”
- Recommendation: 2 x depth = width.
Recommended Surfaces: EIFS, Stucco, Aluminum, Concrete, Masonry, Wood, Stone, Glass, Vinyl, Fiber Cement Siding, Metals, PVC, Kynar 500. Surface Preparation: clean, dry, free of dust and grease, free of chipping paint. Priming: Porous surfaces in water loaded environments should be primed with Primer 150. Surface Activator may be used to pre-treat nonporous surfaces. Resistance to chemical agents: Good resistance to water, aliphatic solvents, mineral oils, grease, diluted inorganic acids and alkalis. Poor resistance to aromatic solvents, concentrated acids, chlorinated hydrocarbons.
It should not be used as a structural sealant, may be painted, however due to the large number of paints and varnishes available we strongly suggest a compatibility test before usage. The drying time of alkyd resin based paints may increase and should not be used as a glazing sealant. It should also not be used for continuous immersion in water. Do not apply to freshly treated wood; treated wood must have been weathered for at least 6 months. Lower temperatures and humidity will extend curing time. Contact with plasticizer containing plastics (e.g. flexible PVC, butyl rubber, EPDM,…) can lead to incompatibilities, such as discoloration or loss of adhesion. We recommend a preliminary compatibility test. We recommend a preliminary adhesion test on every surface.
It Meets ASTM C 920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 35, Use T, NT, M, A, G* and O**, Federal Specification TT-S00230C, Type II, Class A. Soudaseal AP is not recommended to be used as glazing sealant. In accordance with AAMA 802.3-10 Type II, 803.3- 10 Type I, 805.2-10 Group C and 808.3-10.
