New Jersey
Effective May 18, 2020, residential and commercial construction can resume statewide. The Governor previously ordered that all residential and commercial construction must cease as of April 10, 2020, with the exception of certain public works and COVID-19 related projects and ongoing small-scale residential construction. The most recent Executive Order (No. 142) issued on May 13, 2020, revokes that prior construction ban and allows all residential and commercial construction to resume effective May 18, 2020. All construction work, including any work that was deemed essential and allowed to continue under the prior ban, must be performed in strict compliance with the State’s requirements for workplace safety set forth in Paragraph 2 of Executive Order No. 142 (see link below).
